so, it's getting hot again.

By the sounds of all the Tweets on Twitter the situation in Eastern Ukraine is at the worst it's ever been. Lots of Tweets suggesting violent pro-Russian protesters storming buildings, some reports of grenades and other weaponry. Isn't this just a perfect excuse for Vladimir Putin to make a move? It seems almost too perfect especially with thousands of Russian troops still on the border of Ukraine.

if pro - Russian protesters are actually capable of taking over buildings and offices of officials in Ukrainian region on their own maybe there will be no need for Russia to get involved.
did you think about that?

If that would be the case the Ukrainian army would be deployed to stop the pro Russians. So the Russian army has to get involved to help the regions secede.

I've just seen a Tweet from a reporter at the scene of one of the violent Pro-Russian protests. She states she overheard a male who is wearing a balaclava speak in a distinct Russian accent on his walkie-talkie appearing to be coordinating the trouble. Interesting...

I really doubt a group of 2000 protestors can resist an army. Or even police special forces.

that depends on what actions will army/police undertake.

could it be that Putin will not attack, instead he will wait for the regions to organize referendums and ask to join Russia.

Russia would get all the "good parts" of Ukraine while the remnants of the Ukraine would "Go West".
