So in case an Invasion is imminent, tonight would be perfect for such.. although I think that is unlikely in light of the recent info shared in this thread

Only two things will trigger a Russian invasion of Ukraine. If the Ukrainian government suppresses eastern Ukraine with military force, or if Ukraine becomes unstable. Stability of Ukraine will not be known until after the May elections. Yatsenyuk took two positive steps. He addressed the nation in Russian, and he said he will not agree to the EU demand to close manufacturing in eastern Ukraine. There is no valid reason to close factories that sell to Russia. Invading Ukraine will exact high costs to the Russian economy, and they will only invade if they feel they have no choice.
Once the full impact of the EU imposed austerity is felt, Ukraine could become unstable. A better choice would be to follow Iceland. Default on the loans, and maintain independence.

I agree with your post, Russia would step up only if unrest get out of control and government lose control over it.
They must get rid of Right Sector ASAP, as Right Sector is increasing ethnic tensions. Austerity will be a real test and will cause unrest but hopefully not another Maidan.

yes I agree.. an Invasion seems less and less likely for now..

Sergei Lavrov is just trying to spin things again, much like he's been doing all throughout this anti-West campaign and against Ukraine without any basis or facts. If the US agree to any sort of federalisation it would be an embarrassment for the international community as a whole. You cannot simply agree to the demands of an aggressor in the case of Russia. Russia wants to take control of Ukraine by demanding autonomy.

According to this gentleman's blog there has been "reinforced security measures" in Trubchevsk in Bryansk. Residents are saying the city was surrounded by troops who are patrolling the area. Bryansk has been the scene of a lot of military activity including field hospitals and command centres being set up.

I wonder what that means?

And i agree with you in your assessment, US just cannot accept Russia's offer openly. A lot depends on todays talks. Maybe they can secretly agree while openly continue to offer verbal opposition to Russia.

Rogers: Troop movement, 'covert operation' suggests Putin not finished in Ukraine

Russian president also is engaged in a more “covert operation” by sending intelligence officers and special forces into eastern Ukraine to try to convince citizens to allow Russia to annex their country, like Putin did with Ukraine’s Crimea region earlier this month.

Beyond assembling military armor and tens of thousands of troops along the Russia-Ukraine border, Putin is moving troops in northern Georgia and planting intelligence officers in Ukraine, the Michigan Republican told “Fox News Sunday.”

Anti-west campaign? Is Sergei supposed to be a pro-west campaigner?
You really are the Joker.
International community, free world, democracy...blah blah
Care to elaborate why is federalisation of Ukraine embarrassment for international community? Just because Russia has proposed it?

Ukraine has a point here - the current situation smells more like 1938 (Sudetenland) by the day, IIRC from my knowledge of what happened there, the Czechs weren't involved in those talks.

Change the names in the following passage and you'll see what I'm getting at:

On September 22nd, Chamberlain flew to Bad Godesberg to meet Hitler so that the final details of the plan could be worked out. At this meeting Hitler made new demands that took Chamberlain by surprise. Hitler wanted German troops to occupy the Sudetenland. He also demanded that land containing a majority of Poles and Magyars should also be returned to Poland and Hungary. Britain and France rejected these demands and both the French and British governments prepared for war. At the suggestion of Mussolini, a four-power conference was held to resolve the problems. This was the third meeting which was held at Munich. Germany, Britain, France and Italy were represented - Czechoslovakia was not. Neither was the Soviet Union, which greatly angered its leader, Joseph Stalin.

Seems like only Russian media covering this.

Russia Today were covering a rally in Ukraine yesterday. They blatantly lied about the number of pro-Russian people who attended. They said "1 million people" and the pictures taken showed a group of 50-100 people. Russian propaganda is so bad, it's funny. They are just cementing Vladimir Putin's pretext.

1 million people?
care to provide some more information on this one?
I was trying to find where exactly RT said this?
or you're just making things up?
